Our family has been reeling from two deaths in our family a month apart. Both my aunt and uncle were taken down by Alzheimer's. My recently departed Aunt Vick has been incapacitated for years due to this debilitating disease. Her primary caretaker, my Uncle Dick, unexpectedly passed away a month ago, shocking us all. They were married for 62 years and are now together again.
I have been giving to the Alzheimer's Association for years, for obvious reasons, and now I'm participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® because I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support, and research. I'm leading the way to Alzheimer's first survivor — but I need your help! Our team is the Prendergast Pacers - my maternal aunt's maiden name - and we are looking forward to our walk on November 11.
